Marriage & Family Therapy
Our Philosophy of Marriage and Family Therapy is that problems are not part of one individual, but by the entire family members and their interaction.
Most Common Questions Asked:
How does one know when it's time to go? How can the process not affect the children? What approach is better the Collaborative Approach of getting a divorce or the litigation process? Should I give my spouse one more chance? How can I forgive and move on? What do I need to bring back the spark in my marriage?
The following are some examples of problems that you may relate to:
A child has issues in school. Often the child is thought to be the problem. In reality the solution lies with the family. How to work together so that everyone significantly involved in the life of this child, can help.
A couple has issue with his spouse, it becomes the problem of both spouses and how together they can work as one. If one spouse is reluctant to receive help then we work with the individual. One change can bring about change in the relationship, which can bring up growth for the individual as well as the couple.
A family has issues with in-laws, his/her parents, the individual and or couple is reminded on the importance of maintaining their nuclear family intact. We look at the boundaries, alliances, who is siding with who against who. We look at family patterns from 3 generations back to notice any pattern or relationship that is unhealthy and begin to make significant changes so that the new generation, future children are not continuing to creat dysfunction in their own future family. Forgiveness is a big process, but beyond that is taking measures in making a difference for the next generation.
An individual has issues with him/herself. We look at the goals, aspirations, significant figure in that individuals life that has influenced a great part of his/her life. Often he/she can be "stuck". We look at the accomplishments and continue to reach far beyond his/her hopes and dreams.
It's making that first step to recognizing you have a problem and need some guidance or simply an outside person to look in and help.
Who in our universe, does not encounter problems? It's part of human life. But remember our philosophy, that :
"Problems have no age only solutions".
